About our founding director - David Gillon

Select Resumes was a business I started as a reaction to the changing employment environment within Australia and New Zealand. I did the usual news paper advertising, career and trade expos, and of course I looked into internet advertising. I was completely taken advantage of by a number of companies that ended up costing me a small fortune. Needless to say I eventually wised up to the endless phone calls promising the world through ‘amazing internet directories’.

I eventually came across a form of adverting that initially sounded good, but it was quite inconsistent. I could see the potential in Google AdWords so I spent 18 months studying it day in – day out. I was eventually able to interpret trends and create formulas that started out-performing all other types of advertising. I was using and utilising AdWords professionally for my own marketing strategies.  

Select Resumes now employs 6 contractors and has formed partnerships with 3 affiliate companies. In less than 12 months it has become a formidable player in the professional resumes market.

After witnessing the success of Select Resumes, other business owners constantly asked me to manage the Google AdWords management of their companies… Eventually Select Marketing Strategies (SMS) was born.
